Like a composer who writes a piece of music, Claudy Jongstra composes with wool, which she uses to create new colourful compositions. With her hands, she creates no fewer than ten new organically shaped artworks from which the colours splash. The wool-felted works take on the layered blue hues derived from woad. And the recent fresh harvest of Yellow Chamomile from biodynamic Odin farm De Beersche Hoeve, yields a vibrant, almost fluorescent yellow with a saturated solar power.
These, older and yet to be created pieces by the artist are part of Atmosphaera, her comprehensive solo exhibition at Galerie Fontana from 7 September- 26 October 2024. Public opening September 7: 16-19 hrs.
