On the first of August 2024, fashion designer Jona Sees unveiled ‘Approximate Emergent Properties’, an exhibition of past, present & future creations at his atmospheric new Los Angeles studio. He shows archival pieces, experiments, new releases and works that give a glimpse of what's to come, under his ‘humble luxury’ limited editions label Eyn Vas.
Approximate Emergent Properties chronicles 15 years of evolution, with pieces that tell a story about the wearer, such as cultural icons Marina Abramovic and Lenny Kravitz from films like The Hunger Games, made in collaboration with artist Claudy Jongstra.
Together, they dressed the queen of performance art Maria Abramovic in a naturally layered textile artwork that was then presented under Jona's FW 13/14 collection of his quirky and cult-following avant-garde brand InAisce at Paris Fashion Week 2013. It was the beginning of their fruitful collaboration. For this piece, Jona combined his wrap over robe made of Japanese wool with Jongstra's powerful, fierce, draped capes made of felted Drenthe Heath sheep wool. Together, they created an aesthetically interwoven ‘sculptural work of art’.
Their shared eco-vision and conscious way of creating with regenerative materials, fuse into a symphony of innovation that culminates in all their subsequent collaborations. Soon, they will join forces again. We'll keep you posted.
