Sies Marjan x Maharam | Countryside Collection
Claudy Jongstra created a limited-edition colour of her signature Drenthe Heath textile in collaboration with Maharam for Sies Marjan's Autumn-Winter 2020 'Countryside Collection.'
The collection referenced 'Countryside, The Future,' an exhibition by Dutch architect, architectural theorist, and urbanist Rem Koolhaas that addressed the radical transformation of remote and wild landscapes, shifting focus from urban to rural ecology. United by a shared commitment to material exploration, Sies Marjan invited Maharam and Claudy Jongstra to participate in both its latest ready-to-wear collection, which explores the theme of the countryside across extensive material research.

Sies Marjan’s 'Countryside Collection' spans a range of silhouettes referencing workwear and protective layers along with numerous textile production methods closely tied to the natural world including Claudy Jongstra’s Drenthe Heath—a raw felted surface distinguished by its exaggerated tactility and unique production method.
The limited-edition Drenthe Heath colour selected by Sies Marjan, 010 Kelp, is hand-dyed in Jongstra's plant-based dye atelier using walnut husks, yellow onion skins, indigo, and madder grown on Jongstra’s own biodynamic farm in the Dutch countryside of Friesland.
This collaboration is featured in 'The Colors of Sies Marjan' (2022), a Rizzoli publication by Sander Lak documenting his esteemed fashion brand, Sies Marjan, celebrated for its refined ease and expressive palette.
